Sarah is in demand around the UK as an ensemble singer and soloist. Sarah began her musical career as a chorister at Lincoln Cathedral, won a Music Scholarship to Sedbergh School, a place in the NYCGB and was a Choral Scholar in the Chapel Choir at King’s College London, where she read Ancient History. Most recently she studied at the Royal Northern College of Music where she was awarded the James and Mary Glass Scholarship. Sarah performed the role of Pamina in Mozart’s The Magic Flute, with The City Manchester Opera, appeared as a chorus member in Young Opera Venture’s touring productions of Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro, Holst’s Savitri at Grimeborn Opera Festival and in the world premier recording of Daniel Purcell’s Judgement of Paris. Her singing has taken her around the world, seen her appear in numerous radio broadcasts; predominantly as a BBC Radio 4 Daily Service Singer, participate in CD recordings and she has also performed in the BBC Proms. Alongside her singing, Sarah also plays the flute and piano.
Sarah is an experienced performer and engaging teacher. She has a wealth of teaching experience, both privately and within schools. She has taught all ages, male and female, beginners to advanced and across a number of musical styles. Her pupils have gone on to gain consistently high exam marks, entry to performing arts courses, win musical scholarships and performing for leading UK opera companies.
Lessons are all catered to the individual, creating a safe and warm environment to encourage exploration and expression of both the speaking and singing voice. Sarah prides herself on being able to build a rapport with her students, always looking for a way to bring fun and laughter into her lessons. She works to help an individual develop their own unique voice and strive towards set goals, whether that be singing exams, music festivals, audition preparation, as well as those looking to get back into singing or improving their technique. Perhaps there is a goal that you would like to achieve in 2022; whether it be a successful audition for a choir, an exam, smashing that high note or an upcoming performance, Sarah will use her years of experience and training to give you the best possible help and advice.
