Ursula Miethe-Flores - Online Cello Teacher

'An Experienced Cello Performer and Passionate Online Teacher'

Discipline: Cello

Qualifications:  PGDip / MMus Orchestral Performance

Profile

Ursula holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Orchestral Performance and a Masters in Cello Performance from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. After finishing her undergraduate degree at Louisiana State University, she worked for one year at Hattiesburg State Schools (USA). She assisted in orchestral rehearsals and led cello sectionals in which she worked on orchestral excerpts with her students as well as etudes and cello ensemble pieces.

Two of her senior students were awarded scholarships at state universities and another student from middle school got second place at the All State Competition in Mississippi, USA. Ursula is a former student of the Venezuelan El Sistema programme. In August 2016, she worked as a cello teacher at the Sistema England’s Young Leaders Camp where she mentored a group of very talented children for a week, running cello sectionals and directing lower strings workshops.  She focused on team working skills and how to solve technical and musical problems.

Ursula is also a member of the Kidderminster Festival Orchestra and performs regularly in Birmingham and West Midlands with her piano trio.

She has been teaching through Skype as part of the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire's ARCO project that reaches out to a Cape Gate MIAGI Centre of Music, an inspiring institution in Soweto, Johannesburg, and she believes it is just as effective as learning in person. She focuses her teaching in musicality and technique in fun and innovative ways and she is looking forward to teaching new students with yourspacemusiclessons.com.
