Welcome to our exciting new challenge for age 6 - 11 year olds - The Mini Concert Award! We hope you will enjoy taking part!

The Mini Concert award is about creating a mini concert in your home or school and performing a piece of music you have prepared - after completing the practice challenge - to family members or friends. To gain your mini concert award certificate from us here are the steps you need to follow.

The Practice Challenge 3rd March - 21st March 2025
Decide on the piece of music you want to perform for your mini concert
Begin three week practice challenge:
start on Monday 24th February and do 5 short (20 minute) practices per week for each of the three weeks.
Write the title of the piece at the top of your form and your name.
Tick the box on the form after each practice you do and get a parent or guardian to sign to confirm at the end of each week.
Show your practice form to your online music teacher during your lessons for those three weeks. Your teacher will take a selfie to confirm the practice.

Prepare Your Concert
You are the boss of your own concert and will need to decide:
When and where your concert will take place.
Who you will invite.
Where you will play your instrument in the room.
How many chairs you need for you and the audience.
As an optional extra decide if you want to serve any refreshments such as hot or cold drinks, biscuits / snacks
Then you'll need to design and decorate the programme
Complete and give out tickets to your audience

The Concert
Do your mini concert (in concert conditions) any time from 21st March to 7th April following the instructions below.
Welcome everyone as they arrive at your concert and take their ticket.
Once everyone is seated introduce yourself and announce the title of your concert and what you are going to play. Let your audience know if any refreshments will be served afterwards.
Your concert can be performed in front of family members, or a friend, your classmates, or any one you would feel comfortable to play your piece in front of. But it has to be a human. (Playing your piece in front of your guinea pig doesn’t count!)
Document your mini concert by taking a photo or video during or at the end of your performance (maybe ask an audience member for help)
Please include your instrument in the photo or video and send it with your name to [email protected] by 7th April
