Profile

25 year-old Matthew House is already an accomplished teacher and performer. He has played in venues such as the Wigmore Hall, King’s Place and Royal Festival Hall, as well as multiple locations in Belgium, Italy, Spain, and Germany. Matthew finds great pleasure playing chamber music, with guitar quartet being the centerpiece of his output.

His other experience ranges from duets to guitar orchestras of over 200 musicians, including the National Youth Guitar Ensemble, Berkshire Youth Guitar Orchestra, and Guitar Circus Ensemble. In addition to playing in traditional ensembles, Matthew is interested in experimenting with unique ensembles, including collaborations with voice, flute, soprano saxophone and bassoon, as well as incorporating 7 and 10-string guitars into his repertoire.

Having completed his undergraduate at the Royal College of Music, he is currently studying a masters at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Matthew specialises in classical guitar but is experienced in teaching almost all other forms of the guitar inc. electric, acoustic, bass and ukulele.

He has a prolific output of arrangements that he incorporates into his teaching and is always happy to take suggestions for repertoire covered in lessons. The more input a student has, the better the lesson can be tailored around their goals to provide a productive and enjoyable experience for all.
